Colouring Books from Enchanted Land of Fantasy (ELF) and ds design.
As a fan of fantasy themed movies and TV shows such as The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon and The Witcher, in 2024 I had a concept of designing and self-publishing my own fantasy themed colouring books. I purchased a book on how to self-publish on Amazon KDP and decided to give it a go! I have learned the Amazon KDP self-publishing process and use the latest digital technology to create the imagery and my Graphic Design skills and experience to do the design, branding and layout.
I now have 6 fantasy greyscale colouring books, 4 bold outline easy colouring books and 2 adults and seniors mindfulness colouring books, plus over 80 themed notebooks available to buy on Amazon. I have sold books in the UK, USA, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and Australia.
FYI... 'Greyscale colouring' is the technique of adding colour to black and white illustrations. The different shades of grey in the image act as your tonal colouring guide, using techniques such as layering, shading and blending to colour on top of the grey shades, adding depth and breathing life into the image. As it's a beginner-friendly technique there are no strict rules, so it's a great way to create fantasy images, regardless of your skill level!
Colouring can offer people a relaxing and peaceful escape. This activity reduces stress, improves focus, and enhances fine motor skills. By engaging the creative part of the brain, it provides a calming sense of accomplishment and supports overall mental well-being.
NOTE: To get the most out of Enchanted Land of Fantasy greyscale colouring books, using good quality 'soft-core' coloured pencils is recommended. Coloured pencils allow for easy layering, blending and depth, which is key for greyscale work. Markers and felt pens are not recommended, as their alcohol or water bases can cause undesirable colour bleeding issues when colouring greyscale images. Bold black outline colouring books are suitable for use with markers, felt pens and pencils. Care should taken when colouring images with fine black outlines to avoid colour bleed over the lines.
IMPORTANT: ALWAYS put a piece of card under the page you are colouring to prevent any ink bleeding through to the page below it.
